Canon Fodder: As You Like It

With our 2014 production of Othello GreenStage will complete Shakespeare's canon! We're celebrating with a look back at every play.

Today's play is As You Like It, performed by GreenStage in 2010.

AYLI was directed by Teresa Thuman, who is directing this summer's canon-completing production of Othello. The cast included Patrick Bentley, Tom Dewey, Nicole Fierstein, Alex Garnett, Kate Kraay, Patrick Lennon, Marc “Mok” Moser, Shane Regan, Nick Rempel, Gina Marie Russell, Donald Speirs, Gianni Truzzi, and Nicole Vernon. That's Kraay as "Ganymede" and Vernon as Celia in the photo at right.

GreenStage also performed As You Like It in 1997, with Tom Sunderland directing. Erin Day, now GreenStage artistic director, played Rosalind and Ken Holmes, now managing director, played Jacques. It was Lisa Viertel's first GreenStage show; she played Audrey. The production included amazing music sung by Emily Riesser, a fabulous opera singer and also Sunderland's wife. Tom and Emily remain great friends of GreenStage.
