Ah, summer, sweet summer! Sunshine and Shakespeare!
We’re wrapping up June, Independence Day is this weekend, and that means GreenStage and FREE Shakespeare returns to a park near you next week!
Our summer season opens Friday, July 10 with three performances: Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Amelia Meckler Bowers, will play at Seward Park; The Two Noble Kinsmen, directed by Ryan Higgins, will be performed at Volunteer Park; and our Backyard Bard version of The Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Ken Holmes, will be at High Point Commons in West Seattle. All three of those Friday shows will begin at 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, July 11-12, marks the 15th annual Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival at Volunteer Park. GreenStage helps organize a total of eight theater companies who will do 14 performances, all free, over the weekend. The first show is at noon Saturday, 11 a.m. Sunday, and performances run through about 9 p.m. each day.
In addition to the festival performances, GreenStage will also stage plays at Salmon Bay Park in Ballard, Marvista Park in Normandy Park, and Othello Park will host a Backyard Bard double feature on Sunday!
Your tasks before the season gets under way:
