A venue called simply “The Theatre” was one of the first to host a Shakespeare play. Archaeologists in London found its remains back in 2008. Now, according to an article by Brigit Katz on Smithsonian.com, the Museum of London Archaeology has plans to open the site to visitors next year—the first time the public will view the facility in 400 years.
According to the article, the theatre was built by James Burbage.
